Ryan Scarlata

RYAN SCARLATA is a freelance theatrical director, actor and educator based in Houston, TX. He served as Associate Director for the Off-Broadway and National Tour production of Berenstain Bears Live!, and recently as Assistant Director for Sister Act and Disney’s The Little Mermaid at Theatre Under The Stars with Tony nominee Dan Knechtges. Ryan’s favorite regional directing credits include CATS, Newsies, Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach, 9 to 5 The Musical, 13 The Musical, Sweeney Todd, RENT, The Producers, Once On This Island, Meet Me in St. Louis and Little Shop of Horrors. Ryan has worked nationwide as a director and educator, is a 2016 recipient of the Freddie G. Teaching Award from Music Theatre International's CEO/President Freddie Gershon, and is a proud member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society. He holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Directing from Texas State University where productions include Significant Other, A Piece of My Heart, Pew! Pew! (reading), and his critically acclaimed thesis production of Seussical.
