Interdisciplinary artist Ryan Conarro (ALAXSXA | ALASKA, this hour forward) will premiere his work Saints of Failure as a site-specific production inside Lafayette Ave Presbyterian Church (85 South Oxford St, Fort Greene, Brooklyn) on October 24, 2019, with additional dates through November 9, 2019. Weaving storytelling, rich soundscape, and live makeup transformations, Conarro shares a series of histories and memories to explore deep questions about LGBTQ identity and the American Christian experience and what ensues when these identities collide.

PING CHONG + COMPANY is proud to announce the premiere of ALAXSXA | ALASKA, a theatrical work using video projections, puppetry, and Central Yup'ik drum and dance to reveal stories of cross-cultural encounter in the epic, changing landscapes of Alaska. Developed during multiple residencies in Alaska and New York City, with support from the NEFA National Theater Project, among others, it will debut in Anchorage, Alaska from August 31-September 3, 2017, followed by a statewide Alaskan tour before it comes to New York for a three-week engagement at La MaMa ETC fromOctober 12-29, 2017. For over 100 years, movie houses have hosted a steady stream of people, with dates or friends or occasionally alone, who sit on velvet seats in the dark to witness a story that makes them feel something. Even in the transition from celluloid to digital, whether dropping popcorn on the floor or donning 3D glasses, movie goers connect to the characters on the screen and take the feelings those films elicit out of the theatre and into their lives.
