Abingdon Theatre Company, under the artistic direction of Tony Speciale, presents the world premiere of CHESS MATCH NO. 5, conceived and directed by Anne Bogart, with text arranged by Jocelyn Clarke from the words of John Cage. Created by Siti Company, CHESS MATCH NO. 5 began previews March 9, and opened officially last night, March 19, in Abingdon's June Havoc Theatre (312 West 36th Street).
Siti Company Announces Michelle Preston as Executive Director
SITI Company's Board of Directors along with Co-Artistic Directors Anne Bogart, Ellen Lauren and Leon Ingulsrud have named Michelle Preston as its new Executive Director. Preston joined SITI in July of 2012 as Deputy Director, where she oversaw fundraising, external communications, strategic plan implementation, and board development and has served as Interim Executive Director since January of 2014. Preston succeeds Megan Wanlass who served the Company for 19 years.
Barefoot Theatre Company Presents 'Dog Day Afternoon'
Following a highly successful workshop production in 2007, Barefoot Theatre Company will present the World Premiere of 'Dog Day Afternoon', a new play based on actual events that inspired the academy award winning film.
World Premiere Botanical Gardens Opens September 9
78th Street Theatre Lab will open its 2007-08 season this fall with the world premiere of BOTANICAL GARDENS by Chicago playwright Todd Logan, previews begin August 31, prior to an official press opening of September 9 at the 78th Street Theatre Lab (236 West 78th Street) in Manhattan.
