BIO

Ruth Mitchell is a renowned American actress and singer who has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry. Born in New York City, Mitchell grew up with a love for the arts and started performing in community theater at a young age. She went on to study theater at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where she honed her craft and developed her unique style.
Mitchell made her Broadway debut in 1995 in the hit musical "Rent." She played the role of Mimi Marquez, a struggling young artist who falls in love with the character Roger. Mitchell's performance was praised for its raw emotion and powerful vocals, and she quickly became a fan favorite. She went on to reprise the role in the national tour of "Rent," which traveled throughout the United States and Canada.
In 1999, Mitchell joined the cast of the Broadway revival of "Cabaret." She played the iconic role of Sally Bowles, a British cabaret singer in 1930s Berlin. Mitchell's performance was once again met with critical acclaim, and she was praised for her ability to capture the character's vulnerability and complexity. She received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance.
Mitchell's success on Broadway led to opportunities in film and television. In 2001, she landed a role in the independent film "Hedwig and the Angry Inch." She played the character Yitzhak, a drag performer who is struggling to find his own identity. The film was a critical and commercial success, and Mitchell's performance was praised for its depth and sensitivity.
In 2004, Mitchell made her television debut in the hit series "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." She played the character Lila, a victim of sexual assault who seeks justice through the legal system. Mitchell's performance was once again praised for its emotional depth and authenticity, and she received an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.
Mitchell continued to work in both theater and film throughout the 2000s and 2010s. In 2008, she starred in the Off-Broadway production of "The Marvelous Wonderettes." She played the character Cindy Lou, a high school student who performs in a singing group with her friends. Mitchell's performance was praised for its comedic timing and strong vocals.
In 2012, Mitchell appeared in the film "The Perks of Being a Wallflower." She played the character Aunt Helen, a beloved family member who has passed away before the events of the film. Mitchell's performance was brief but powerful, and she was praised for her ability to convey a sense of warmth and love in just a few scenes.
Most recently, Mitchell appeared in the Broadway production of "Dear Evan Hansen." She played the character Cynthia Murphy, the mother of one of the main characters.
