BWW Interview: Jeff Parry, Producer of WE WILL ROCK YOU at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier, Place Des Arts
Jeff Parry was raised in Ottawa, ON. His love of music began when he was 9 years old when he fell in love with The Beatles. He has always had a passion for. music, so after University, he moved out west to try to raise money to open a record store in Ottawa. He wound up staying in Alberta and rather than open a record store, in 1978, he started a concert promotion business, producing tribute shows. That evolved into becoming an agent and ultimately, a theatrical producer. I had the chance to speak with Parry on the eve of the Montreal run of the award winning musical, WE WILL ROCK YOU, a jukebox musical based on the songs of British rock band Queen with a book by Ben Elton, which lands in Montreal on February 10.

LET IT BE played its 1000th UK performance in the West End last night as it entered the final part of its run. The show has just four weeks left to play at the Garrick Theatre and audiences have now just 38 more performances to catch this record-breaking production before it closes on September 5th.

This Beatles concert experience, since it opened, has played to over 50,000 audience members. LET IT BE began previews Tuesday, July 16th and officially opened Wednesday, July 24th.

The producers of LET IT BE today confirmed that the production has recouped at the box office the £1.6million the show cost to stage. The recoupment comes as the show finishes its 18 week run at the Prince of Wales Theatre and prepares to transfer to the Savoy Theatre from Friday 1 February 2013.
