Former JERSEY BOYS Cast Members to Bring UNDER THE STREETLAMP to State Theatre, 6/25

With the mantra "Retro never sounded so now!," the dreamy voices of the four lead singers of pop quartet Under The Streetlamp are poised to bring the repertoire of "The American Radio Songbook" to a whole new audience while simultaneously reminding the original fans why they fell in love with the music in the first place. The former cast members of Broadway's "Jersey Boys" take the State Theatre stage on Wednesday, June 25th.

Serendipity or divine will brought Adesola Osakalumi to the role of Fela. Adesola's father owned a record label and a record store in the Bronx. Fela Kuti, the Nigerian multi-instrumental musician and human rights activist would come into the store. As a child, Adesola met him two times, observing the soul of the man. Now as an adult, Adesola is unfolding Fela's music, beliefs and life story.

When I first reviewed Bark! The Musical at the Coast Playhouse in 2004 for reviewplays, I said it was a musical 'worth yip, yip, yipeaying about. Woof, woof, woof for joy!' Well, now it's on a much bigger stage in Redondo Beach, and because of a fantastic cast and creative team this very intimate little show makes a pleasantly effective transition to its new venue.
