A Role By Any Other Name: Gender in Shakespeare and Making Room for Women
Earlier this week news broke that Glenda Jackson, fresh from her triumphant, Tony-winning run in Three Tall Women, will next don the crown as Shakespeare's tragic monarch King Lear. Broadway is making much ado about something and understandably so. New York stages haven't seen much gender-swapped or gender-blind casting of Shakespeare, but take a peek across the pond to find a revolution of sorts in the interpretation of the Bard's work.

Nicholas Hytner's production of Julius Caesar, the London Theatre Company's second production at the Bridge Theatre, runs from 20 January to 15 April 2018, with opening night on Tuesday 30 January 2018. Audiences have Six Weeks Left to See the Critically Acclaimed 1984
Audiences have just six weeks left to see the critically acclaimed Headlong, Nottingham Playhouse and Almeida Theatre production of 1984. Since opening at the Nottingham Playhouse in 2013, the production has played almost 700 performances across the globe and, by the end of this run, over 380,000 people will have seen the show. Directed by Robert Icke and Duncan Macmillan with Daniel Raggett, the limited run at the Playhouse Theatre must end on 29 October 2016.
