Abrons Arts Center's 2018-19 Season Celebrates 125th Anniversary Of Henry Street Settlement
In 1893, social work and public health pioneer Lillian Wald (1867-1940) founded Henry Street Settlement on Manhattan's Lower East Side to serve New York City's most vulnerable people through social service, healthcare, and arts programs. Since that day, Henry Street Settlement has been a crucial force for progressive reform and a leading advocate for social change, serving 60,000 New Yorkers each year.
New Dance Alliance Announces Lineup For The 32nd Annual Performance Mix Festival
New Dance Alliance is pleased to announce the lineup for the 32nd annual Performance Mix Festival. “The most elaborate festival of the unpredictable” (The New York Times), the 2018 edition brings together more than 30 artists with diverse approaches to performance, inviting audiences to engage with the unexpected and to experience some of the newest voices in experimental dance. This year's festival also includes Performance Mix's annual community breakfast, a free movement workshop, and other special events. The festival runs June 7?10, 2018, at The Performance Project at University Settlement. Performance Mix is curated by New Dance Alliance Founder and Director Karen Bernard.

The Exponential Festival presents and promotes theatrical performances created by New York-based artists and exhibited across Brooklyn (and now sneaking into Manhattan). We are proud to announce our third year of artists and venues. Performances will take place January 4-31 in partnership with 100 Bogart, The Brick, Chez Bushwick, The Glove, JACK, Loading Dock, The Parlour, Slipper Room, The Tank, Triskelion's Douglas Elliman Studio Theater and Muriel Schulman Theater and Vital Joint. Panels will take place on January 16 and 21 at The Bushwick Starr. The Exponential Festival celebrates the increasing growth and importance of Brooklyn venues, unique Manhattan spaces and local artists, working together to keep theatre kicking.
92Y Unveils Free 'Dance Maker' Choreography App
92Y DEL (Dance Education Laboratory) announces the release of the free Dance Maker app. Developed with teachers in mind, the app features activities and resources useful for anyone teaching, learning or otherwise enjoying the art of dance. Dance Maker is available on iOS, with an Android version in the works.

Brooklyn Arts Exchange Spotlights Emerging Artists at 2017 UPSTART FESTIVAL
Curated by former BAX Artists In Residence Jillian Peña (2011-13) and Fernando Maneca (2004-06), the 2017 Upstart Festival ushers in fresh talent with an intriguing festival of performances and roundtable discussions. This festival gives creators of dance, theater and performance works, who have no more than three years of experience showing their work in New York City, an opportunity to show work and to facilitate networking opportunities that pave the way for fruitful artistic careers.

Gender/Power Composition IV is an in-process collaborative project led by video artist Maya Ciarrocchi and performance artist Kris Grey in which performers and co-creators Keke Brown, Shawn Escarciga, Ray Ferreira, Massima Lei, Elena Rose Light, Marissa Pereland Pamela Sneed share personal feminist, trans and queer narratives within a framework that blurs authorship.

Bodega Negra Makes Its US Debut at New York's Dream Downtown
Bodega Negra, an offshoot of the popular London import known for its menu of upscale Mexican fare, opens today at Dream Downtown. TAO/Strategic Group worked alongside nightlife legend Serge Becker and his partners, celebrated UK restaurant operator Will Ricker and entrepreneur Ed Spencer Churchill, to bring this concept across the pond.
