Review: THE PROM at CM Performing Arts Center
What did our critic think of THE PROM at CM Performing Arts Center? Ironic, satirical, over-the-top and even borderline problematic at select moments as it may be, the book and script for The Prom are undoubtedly laugh-out-loud funny. While the show reminds audiences that homophobia is still rampant and human rights are still threatened in our country in 2023, viewers also get to judge and laugh at the caricatures of narcissistic, grossly dramatic thespians, and closed-minded Indiana conservatives.
Review: THE SOUND OF MUSIC at CM Performing Arts Center
What did our critic think of THE SOUND OF MUSIC at CM Performing Arts Center? When it comes to legendary pieces, the goal (and the massive challenge) is always to achieve storytelling justice. The Sound of Music is certainly no exception, and the cast and crew of the production currently running at the CM Performing Arts Center directed by Jordan Hue are valiant in their efforts to execute this beloved and timeless icon. While everyone in the cast holds their own, Maria (Katie Ferretti) and the adorable, equally talented and lively von Trapp children truly breathe life into this take on the seminal classic.
BWW Review: The Long Island Premiere of BULLETS OVER BROADWAY At The Noel S. Ruiz Theatre
The incarnation of Bullets Over Broadway, The Musical at Oakdale's Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center (CMPAC), is certainly an enjoyable one. Strongly directed by CMPAC Artistic Director Patrick Grossman, the Long Island premiere, running through August 11th, spectacularly closes out the venue's thrilling 42nd season. And let me tell you this cast is absolutely wonderful.
