Review: THE PRODUCERS at Theatre Three
Port Jefferson’s historic Theater Three certainly has another hit on their hands with their current showing of the mega hit musical The Producers. Closing out their incredible 53rd season, the beautiful Long Island venue has assembled a brilliant cast to flawlessly deliver this Tony, Grammy, and Olivier winning Mel Brooks classic. Indeed, this thrilling production is a must see this exciting Spring season in the lively town.
Review: AGATHA CHRISTIE'S MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS at Theatre Three
Port Jefferson's Theatre Three sensationally continues their amazing fifty third season with a gripping production of Agatha Christie's Murder On The Orient Express. It is most interesting and thrilling to see a mystery mounted locally as this title doesn't seem to be done often. This production runs through May 4th at the charming Long Island venue and by the enthusiasm from opening weekend, you may want to get your tickets quickly.
BWW Q&A: Alyse Arpino & Patrick Campbell of INTO THE WOODS at CM Performing Arts Center
The CM Performing Arts Center's Main Stage production of INTO THE WOODS is sure to enchant its audiences from September 16-30. Inspired by the Brothers Grimm fairy tales, INTO THE WOODS is an enchanting, brilliant musical that ventures beyond “happily ever after!” What begins as a lively fantasy ends in lessons of responsibility, consequences for our actions, and what we teach our children.
Review: GUYS AND DOLLS Hits the Jackpot at Theatre Three
What did our critic think of GUYS AND DOLLS at Theatre Three? The glitz of 1920s-era Times Square is alive in Port Jefferson this fall with Theatre Three's effervescent production of the Golden Age musical classic 'Guys and Dolls.' A combination of masterful stagecraft, zippy choreography, and a top-notch ensemble of performers secures the production as must-see theatre this fall on Long Island.
BWW Review: THE DROWSY CHAPERONE at The Noel S. Ruiz Theatre At CM Performing Arts Center
The Tony Award winning musical The Drowsy Chaperone, the current offering from The Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center (CMPAC), is indeed a fascinating piece. I say fascinating because at its entertaining core, it is a show within a show spoofing old musicals. The plot includes mistaken identities, dream sequences, an unexcitable English butler, a Broadway producer going crazy over his Follies production, comical gangsters, a ditzy chorine, a harried best man, and an alcoholic, er, “drowsy”, chaperone amongst other stereotypes. The enjoyable Jordan Hue directed incarnation runs through March 12th at the charming Oakdale, Long Island, venue.
BWW Review: THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES at Theatre Three
Port Jefferson’s Theatre Three indeed has a hit with their current offering The Marvelous Wonderettes. Running through March 26th, the adorable production is superbly directed by Long Island theatre vet Linda May. This show hasn’t been on Broadway, per se, but it did have two off-Broadway runs in 2008 and 2016 well as inspiring several spin-offs. There have been many local productions of this show and it’s easy to understand why: it is a fun, nostalgic show.
BWW Review: You Will Be 'Hopelessly Devoted' to Theatre Three's Production of GREASE
It has been over a year and half since the world shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Finally, I'm thrilled to say, Theater has returned. 'Welcome back!' Oops, Wait I'm mixing-up my 1970's John Travolta pop culture references. 'I got chills and they're multiplying' (that's better). Thankfully, these multiplying chills are not from COVID, but from Theatre Three's fantastically fun production of Grease, complete with an on-stage hot rod.
