Newvelle Records announced the release date of A Prayer For Andrew, from trumpet and flugelhorn master Ron Horton. The two-disc vinyl release, ALSO AVAILABLE DIGITALLY and preserved on the highest quality 180-gram vinyl, honors the music of Andrew Hill. Featuring powerful interpretations of Hill's arrangements.

A limited run of Robert Anderson's 1968 play I NEVER SANG FOR MY FATHER, directed by Richard Hoehler will play at The Chain Theatre at 312 West 36th Street, 4th floor between 8th and 9th Avenues. Performances will be Thursday through Saturday at 8:00 PM, and Sundays at 3:00 PM, September 5 through 22, 2019. Tickets ($25 General Admission, $15 Students/Seniors) are available for advanced purchase at www.chaintheatre.org. The performance will run approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes with one 15-minute intermission.

Time exempts no one even as it robs us of qualities and attributes that once made us who we were, gifts us with new ones, and leaves certain things at our very crux unchanged. The Little Colonel Players' current production of Ronald Harwood's Quartet allows us a poignant glimpse into the lives of four retired opera singers as they come to terms with what they were and who they are.

Finding inspiration in the physical surroundings of her current hometown of Austin, Texas, and drawing upon what jazz critic Harvey Pekar called her 'fertile imagination' as a pianist, composer, and arranger, Peggy Stern has recorded the deepest and most personal album of her distinguished career, 'Z Octet.' Comprised of several of her most poignant compositions, the recording shapes them into a cohesive work of great beauty, color, and tender emotion. Stern's Estrella Productions will release the CD on July 8.
