NJPAC to Welcome UB40, The Original Wailers Featuring Al Anderson, Maxi Priest and Big Mountain
New Jersey Performing Art Center, presents UB40, legendary reggae-pop band and four-time Grammy® nominees, will perform in Newark for their BIGGA BAGGARIDDIM TOUR with The Original Wailers featuring Al Anderson, Maxi Priest and Big Mountain, on Sunday, August 21 at 7PM. UB40 will perform its worldwide hit singles “Red Red Wine,” “Food For Thought,” “(I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You,” and many more, in addition to songs from their most recent album, BIGGA BAGGARIDDIM.
Changes to Shaw Festival Board of Directors Announced
At today's Shaw Festival Annual General Meeting, Board Chair Peter E.S. Jewett welcomed new members - Thomas R. Hyde, senior counsel at Hodgson Russ LLP and Nicole R. Tzetzo, partner at Hodgson Russ LLP - to the Shaw Festival Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is invested with fiduciary oversight to support and further the mission and longevity of the Shaw Festival.
UB40 To Release First New Album In Five Years
For The Many is the Birmingham reggae veterans' nineteenth studio album - their first since 2013's Getting Over The Storm. It features UB40's founding members Robin Campbell (co-vocals/Guitar), Brian Travers (saxophone/keyboards), Jimmy Brown (drums), Earl Falconer (bass/keyboards/vocals) and Norman Hassan (percussion/vocals), alongside long-time members Duncan Campbell (vocals), Martin Meredith (saxophone), Laurence Parry (trumpet) and Tony Mullings (keyboards).
SONGS FOR NOBODIES Will Transfer to the West End
RGM Productions & Daniel Sparrow Productions in association with Bill Bowness, Robin Campbell, Ros Andrews and Andrew Buxton today announce the West End transfer of Songs For Nobodies for a limited 7 week run. The production, written by Joanna Murray Smith specifically to showcase the extraordinary vocal ability of actress Bernadette Robinson, had its European premiere at Wilton's Music Hall earlier this year and opened to wide critical and audience acclaim. This new play with songs is directed by Simon Phillips and features music from five iconic divas; Judy Garland, Patsy Cline, Billie Holiday, Edith Piaf and Maria Callas and opens at the Ambassadors Theatre on 10 January, with previews from 7 January and running until 23 February.
The Shaw Festival Renames Theater in Honour of Former Artistic Director Jackie Maxwell
At a ribbon cutting ceremony earlier today, the Shaw Festival honoured former Artistic Director Jackie Maxwell's fourteen year tenure by renaming the Studio Theatre. In front of an audience of donors, company members and patrons, the space was officially christened the Jackie Maxwell Studio Theatre just days before Middletown takes residency for the season.
