It’s a big season at the Met for tenor Jonathan Tetelman—born in Chile, raised in New Jersey—and he’s taking every advantage of it. He’s come to town with a reputation as a Puccini specialist (not that there’s anything wrong with that). How does he feel about that? “Well, I basically built my voice on Puccini repertoire. I’ve taken it as a gift because he’s a great writer for my voice.” His debut at the Met in March was in LA RONDINE but he’s looking forward to showing off more of his dramatic chops with Pinkerton in MADAMA BUTTERFLY, starting this week, because there’s more 'there' there.

Internationally acclaimed American soprano Renée Fleming (1990 Richard Tucker Award Winner) and Welsh bass-baritone Bryn Terfel will join the Richard Tucker Music Foundation for its 2022 Gala on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 6:30pm at the new David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center. This will mark Terfel’s first return to U.S. stages after a number of years performing primarily in Europe.

Hollywood Bowl Announces New Museum Exhibit TAPES ROLLING: DAVID SWEDLOW RECORDS THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL (1954-1959)
The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association today announced a new exhibition at the Hollywood Bowl Museum, Tapes Rolling: David Swedlow Records the Hollywood Bowl, 1954-1959. Launching June 15 in conjunction with the opening of the 2019 summer season and the continuing Centennial celebrations of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the exhibit showcases recordings of the orchestra made by David Swedlow. It will be on view through the spring of 2020.

On Sunday, October 21, the Richard Tucker Music Foundation's annual gala concert - one of the most highly anticipated operatic events of the season - will bring a galaxy of opera stars to the stage of Carnegie Hall. And opera-lovers around the world unable to make it in person will still have the opportunity to watch the performance live. Thanks to the foundation's partnership with medici.tv, the gala concert will be webcast live (6pm ET/3pm PT), free of charge, both on medici.tv and on medici.tv's Facebook page; the stream will subsequently be available for on-demand viewing for a limited period. In addition, the Richard Tucker Music Foundation continues its collaboration with WQXR 105.9 FM, New York's sole dedicated classical radio station, which will broadcast the performance to listeners in the New York metropolitan region and online at www.wqxr.org on November 10 at 1pm ET/10am PT.

Coming to Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage on Sunday, October 21 at 6pm, the concert features bass-baritone Christian Van Horn, winner of the 2018 Richard Tucker Award, with a host of opera luminaries from around the world: soprano Anna Netrebko, tenors Javier Camarena and Yusif Eyvazov, and five past Tucker Award-winners: sopranos Christine Goerke, Angela Meade, and Nadine Sierra; mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe; and tenor Michael Fabiano. This starry lineup will join forces for an evening of favorite arias and ensembles under the baton of Marco Armiliato, with the support of the New York Choral Society and members of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. The gala concert is presented by the Richard Tucker Music Foundation.

Sunday's televised launch marked the first in a series of commercials, starring Guidarelli, for SONY's latest advertising campaign called 'Opera.' In keeping with their 'Greatness Awaits' mantra, Sony has paired the emotions conjured by Guidarelli's operatic voice with the intensity gamers feel when looking at 4K graphics. 'PS4 Pro, dynamic 4K,' Guidarelli sings while footage of games such as God of War, Far Cry 5, and Monster Hunter: World flash across the screen--'So beautiful, can't look away...' really reflects the gamer's passion for the art of video game play.
