New Exhibition THE LOST WEEKEND: THE PHOTOGRAPHY OF MAY PANG Coincides Begins At Robert Kidd Gallery, July 14

Few people knew John Lennon as intimately as May Pang. Pang was Lennon's lover during the infamous 'Lost Weekend' which lasted 18 months during late 1973 through 1975. During this highly creative time for Lennon, Pang took candid photos of Lennon in a comfortable, relaxed environment.
Oakland Symphony Appoints Dr. Mieko Hatano New Executive Director

Oakland Symphony Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Mieko Hatano as its new Executive Director, effective June 4, 2018. As Executive Director, Dr. Hatano will oversee the Oakland Symphony including the Oakland Symphony Orchestra, the Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Oakland Symphony Chorus, and the Oakland Symphony's MUSE and related youth-music-education programs. She will work closely with Music Director and Conductor Michael Morgan.
Fugard Theatre's A HUMAN BEING DIED THAT NIGHT Begins at BAM Tonight

In this taut 2013 theatrical adaptation of Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela's award winning-book, the apartheid regime's most notorious assassin and head of its death squad, Eugene de Kock (played by Matthew Marsh), sits opposite psychologist Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela (played Noma Dumezweni) in Pretoria Central Prison in 1997. Gobodo-Madikizela is a member of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission determined to understand his actions. She questions de Kock, who is sentenced to two life terms plus 212 years for crimes against humanity, murder, conspiracy to murder, attempted murder, assault, kidnapping, illegal possession of firearms, and fraud.
