Music Academy Celebrates LOWENTHAL'S LEGEND, March 9
The internationally acclaimed American pianists Ursula Oppens and Jerome Lowenthal will perform in an Music Academy concert on Thursday evening, March 9, 2023, at 7 PM, PST, at Music Academy of the West's Hahn Hall (1070 Fairway Road Santa Barbara, CA 93108). This concert, entitled 'Lowenthal's Legend,' honors and celebrates the extraordinary pianist and preeminent pedagogue Jerome Lowenthal, who has served as a Music Academy teaching artist for half a century.
Orlando Ballet Announces Leadership Changes
Jorden Morris, the current Choreographer-in-Residence, has been appointed as Guest Artistic Director for Orlando Ballet's 2021-22 season. Morris is well-known to Orlando Ballet staff, dancers, students, and audiences for the 2020-2021 season performances of his works Moulin Rouge and Peter Pan. Both are among the most popular performances in Orlando Ballet's history, despite Covid limitations.
Betsy McBride, Simon Wexler, Paola Hartley, and Karen Scalzitti-Kennedy Announced as Faculty For The Shreveport Dance Academy's Summer Intensive
BETSY McBRIDE, SIMON WEXLER, PAOLA HARTLEY, and KAREN SCALZITTI-KENNEDY will be members of the guest faculty for the Shreveport Dance Academy's Summer Intensive in Shreveport, Louisiana. Ms. McBride and Mr. Wexler will be teaching from July 27-31, 2020, and Ms. Hartley and Ms. Scalzitti-Kennedy will be teaching from August 3-7, 2020.
Annie Russell Theatre To Present Improvised Film Noir Show, PRIVATE LIES
Set in a murky crime-infused cityscape of Prohibition-era America, Private Lies is a fully improvised long-from theatre experience framed as a serialized detective series. The original production pits Richard Lies, an unlucky Private Eye, against a nefarious underworld in film noir-inspired episodes. In each fully improvised performance, our haunted gumshoe seeks to piece together a random assemblage of clues to solve the a?oecrime of the daya?? while witnesses, suspects, and criminals help and hinder his pursuit of justice.
