Robert Benedetti was an early member of the Second City Theatre. He has directed for fifty years at regional theaters such as the Tyrone Guthrie, the Milwaukee, San Diego, South Coast, and Melbourne (Australia) Repertory Theatres, and the Oregon, Colorado, and Great Lakes Shakespeare Festivals. In film, he won three Emmys and a Peabody as a producer/writer for HBO. He is the former Dean of Theater at the California Institute of the Arts and Chairman of the Acting Department at the Yale Drama School. As an actor, he has appeared in many TV, film, and theater productions, including 2017?s Outside Mullingar with the Fusion Theatre. Locally he directed The Odd Couple at SFUAD, produced and directed the ShakeScenes series, and since founding NMAL he has directed, designed, and produced Sylvia, Proof, Driving Miss Daisy, Art, The Glass Menagerie, The Quality of Life (with Nicholas Ballas), Heisenberg, The Gin Game, Rapture, Blister, Burn, and Ages of the Moon.
