Perpetual Students: A Historic Look at Chekov's THE CHERRY ORCHARD on Broadway

The Cherry Orchard is Anton Chekhov's masterpiece about a family on the edge of ruin-and a country on the brink of revolution. The story of Lyubov Ranevskaya and her family's return to their fabled orchard to forestall its foreclosure captures a people-and a world-in transition, and presents us with a picture of humanity in all its glorious folly. By turns tragic and funny, The Cherry Orchard still stands as one of the great plays of the modern era.
Nahum Tschacbasov Retrospective Opens Today at National Arts Club

The Russian American Foundation will present a retrospective of work by Russian-born American artist Nahum Tschacbasov (1899-1984). Curated by Marina Kovalyov, the exhibition includes over fifty paintings and will be on view today, June 1-16, 2013 at the National Arts Club, as part of the 11th Annual Russian Heritage Month, a celebration of events and exhibits highlighting Russian culture.

Eighth Annual Russian American Festival Closes 6/30

The Eighth Annual Russian Heritage Festival began its month long celebration of Russian culture in New York on Sunday June 6 from 11am to 5pm with a free outdoor festival featuring Russian foods, arts, crafts, music and dance performances at Seaside/Asser Levy Park (corner of Ocean Parkway and Seabreeze Ave.) in Brooklyn. One of the highlights of the day will be a live performance by Tatiana Ovsienko, one of Russia's most popular pop stars. A popular, annual event for people of all ages, the Russian Heritage festival will feature performances by numerous youth groups in the New York metropolitan area, performing traditional music, song and dance and wearing traditional costumes showing the diverse heritage of countries such as Russia, Ukraine, and Armenia.

National Arts Club Presents Rate Tsereteli Exhibition, Opens 6/4

The renowned Russian painter and sculptor Zurab Tsereteli - President of the Russian Academy of Arts and Founder/Director of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art - will have a rare exhibit of his works, with an opening set for Friday, June 4 at 5:30 p.m. at the National Arts Club (15 Gramercy Park South) in Manhattan.
