Richard Stillman’s show, “The Spirit of Vaudeville” won the Best Concert Award at the United Solo Theater Festival in NYC. He was featured on the premier episode of the PBS Television Series "Shining Time Station". Mr. Stillman received critical acclaim for his performance in "Lady Be Good" at the Kennedy Center and the Goodspeed Opera House.
On Broadway Mr. Stillman played the Clerk of Oxford in "Canterbury Tales", and understudied "Mummenschanz". Other productions include "Take it From the Top" with Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee, and "Hamlet" with Rip Torn and Geraldine Page.
This past season Richard acted in "Mother Courage" at the Nebraska Rep. Theater and in "The Irish and How They Got That Way" at the Mountain Playhouse in Pa.
He has performed at numerous Music & Storytelling Festivals and once opened for Jim Henson and Kermit the Frog. Mr Stillman holds a BA in Theatre from Dartmouth College, and a performing artists in the schools certificate from Columbia University.
For more than twenty years Richard Stillman has been touring his own shows to theaters, schools and folk festivals. His musical theatre group Two Silly Fathers Productions performs" The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" & "Aladdin and the Lamp". The Mythmakers is a storytelling and music duo with nationally acclaimed storyteller Gerald Fierst .
Richard also performs shows that combine original and traditional folk music, storytelling and percussive dance. These include: "The Irish Balladeers", "Pecos Bill Rides the Oregon Trail" and "A World Mosaic of Music and Dance". They are booked through Encore Performing Arts at encoreperforming.com
In addition, Mr. Stillman plays with his own Dixieland band, a Bluegrass/Country band and an Irish band and teaches music and theater.
