Scoop: Coming Up on a New Episode of REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER - Friday, November 1, 2019

REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER continues its 17th season FRIDAY, NOV. 1 (10:00-11:00 p.m. live ET/tape-delayed PT), with a replay at 12:30 a.m., exclusively on HBO. Allowing Maher to offer his unique perspective on contemporary issues, the show includes an opening monologue, roundtable discussions with panelists and interviews with guests. Pediatrician Dr. Jay Gordon is the top-of-show interview guest. Author Ronan Farrow is the mid-show interview guest. The roundtable guests are former Los Angeles Times Assistant Managing Editor and professor Christina Bellantoni, radio show host Dennis Prager and former Under Secretary of State and author Richard Stengel.

On Thursday evening, The New York Women's Foundation (NYWF) held its annual Fall Gala in The Grand Ballroom of The Plaza Hotel in New York City. The evening's honorees included Ambassador Samantha Power, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations; Lisa Kron and Jeanine Tesori, creators of the Tony Award-winning musical, FUN HOME, and corporate honoree Citi. TODAY's Hoda Kotb served as the evening's Mistress of Ceremony. The event raised $680,000 which will help to support NYWF's more than 70 women-led, community grantee-partner organizations. CBS's 48 HOURS Presents 'Nelson Mandela: Father of a Nation' Tonight

Scott Pelley, anchor and managing editor of the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY, will anchor 'Nelson Mandela: Father of a Nation,' a one-hour 48 Hours PRESENTS special featuring original reporting from CBS News journalists who have covered Mandela's life firsthand and using a quarter-century of rich CBS News footage of his fight for freedom and the human toll it took on a nation. The special will be broadcast tonight, Dec. 7, 2013 (9:00 PM, ET/8:00 PM, CT) on the CBS Television Network.

In her new exhibit at 709 Penn Gallery, Proud to be an American?, Pittsburgh photographer Rebecca Chiappelli explores the meaning of patriotism from diverse perspectives. 'If a universal form of patriotism ever existed, it is not present in today's culture,' says Chiappelli. Proud to be an American? is a simple question with a complex answer. Over the past century, many key events such as world wars, technological advancements, and shifts in the economy have influenced our definition of patriotism. Even today, our definition is expanding due to challenges from external sources like the media and globalization.
