City Theatre Announces Winners Of The 2023 Young Playwrights Contest
City Theatre has announced the winners of the 2023 Young Playwrights Contest. For the past 24 years, City Theatre has held a regional playwrighting contest for students in grades 7-12. The winners will have their plays professionally produced by City Theatre, as well as published in the Young Playwrights Anthology.
The Cleveland Orchestra Announces Six Musician Appointments
The Cleveland Orchestra announced updates to musician personnel with five new members and one member to a first assistant principal position. Earlier this year, Charles Paul, a bass section member since 2022, was appointed first assistant principal bass.
The August Wilson African American Cultural Center To Host OPTICVOICES: MAMA'S BOYS' Closing Reception February 27
The August Wilson African American Cultural Center (AWAACC) will host a closing reception on January 27th for the groundbreaking exhibition OPTICVOICES: Mama's Boys. Gwen Carr, the mother of Eric Garner, will join us for a tour & conversation with Alaquiva at the closing reception. The interactive, multimedia exhibit addresses the trauma and healing of mothers who have lost their sons to systemic violence and aims to highlight their legacies and cement it in history. The exhibition closes on January 29, 2023.
