Metropolitan Opera Guild's 85th Annual Diamond Jubilee To Honor Martina Arroyo & Teresa Stratas
The Metropolitan Opera Guild today announced that the honorees of its “Diamond Jubilee” celebration will be luminaries Martina Arroyo and Teresa Stratas. The Guild's 85th Annual Luncheon will take place on Wednesday, November 20th at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. Special remarks by Stephanie Blythe and musical tributes by Ailyn Pérez and Matthew Polenzani will be performed during the event.
The Metropolitan Opera Guild Names Greg Joye Director of Development
The Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Opera Guild today announced the appointment of Greg Joye as Director of Development, effective July 1. In his new role, Joye will oversee the Guild's special events, including the Annual Luncheon and Opera News Awards, as well as supervise The Guild's development activities.

She was on the way to Cipriani 42nd Street, across from Grand Central Station, where the Metropolitan Opera Guild was celebrating the soprano at its 84th Annual Luncheon. Despite her delayed arrival, the soprano made some time to talk to me about her voice, her roles and what lies ahead--and, by the way, to be absolutely charming and laugh prodigiously in between her serious discussions about her voice and career.
Ailyn Perez Boards Metropolitan Opera Guild's Artists' Council
The Metropolitan Opera Guild has announced that soprano Ailyn Pérez has joined the organization's Artists' Council. Comprised of a distinguished group of Met artists from both past and present, all of whom share the Guild's mission to support the Metropolitan Opera and enhance the public's appreciation of the art form, the Artists' Council serves in an advisory capacity to the Guild board and staff, and, when possible, works actively on its programs.
Thomas M. Martin Named Managing Director of Metropolitan Opera Guild
The Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Opera Guild is pleased to announce that Thomas M. Martin, current Director of Finance and Administration, has been named Managing Director, effective July 1st. Martin will succeed Stewart Pearce, who will retire after five years of service in that capacity, and thirty nine years with the Metropolitan Opera. In his new position Martin is responsible for overseeing programs, activities, marketing, development, employees and finances.
