The Flying Carpet Theatre (FCT) presents the New York premiere of THE MEDICINE SHOWDOWN, a new play by Topher Payne and Adam Koplan that interweaves a traditional story (inspired by Henrik Ibsen's classic 'Enemy of the People') with scenes from a turn-of-the-century medicine show, complete with tap dance, old time melodrama, country music and vaudevillian comedy. THE MEDICINE SHOWDOWN begins performances October 12 prior to an official press opening of October 16 at the East 4th Street Theatre (83 East 4th Street - btw. Bowery and Second Avenue) in Manhattan.

A new exhibition at the New-York Historical Society, Children With AIDS: Spirit and Memory, will feature twenty powerful black and white photographs by noted photographer and social realist Claire Yaffa from her collection "The Changing Face of Children with AIDS." Installed in the Civil Rights Gallery from June 7 through September 15, 2013, the mid- to large-format photographs, taken from 1990-2000, reveal heartbreaking tales of children afflicted with HIV and AIDS.

Held in the elegant ballrooms of the historic New York Athletic Club with phenomenal views of Central Park as a backdrop, hundreds of New York's movers and shakers turned out to support the cause and also to congratulate meningitis survivor & Para Olympic Gold Medalist Nick Springer, an Honorary Chair along with Ambassador & Mrs. John L. Roberts returned to "Good Morning America" on Wednesday, February 22, five months to the day since she underwent a bone marrow transplant to treat the MDS. The hour includes never-before-seen private moments, beginning with the pre-transplant treatment, through her time in the hospital, to the "all clear" moment to return to "GMA," as well as many challenging times and milestones along the way.
