Review: A Remount Of Epic Proportions Brings TWILIGHT: LOS ANGELES 1992 Back at Jobsite Theater

27 Characters, 1 performer, allow me to say it again...27 DIFFERENT CHARACTERS, 1 PERFORMER. Over the course of a 2 Hour span, 1 Performer has the daunting task of honing in on 27 different perspectives, different accounts of a real event. A real event that happened in 1992 but hits just as hard at the core today as it did a mere 28 years ago.
Review: TWILIGHT: LOS ANGELES 1992 at Mark Taper Forum

As solidly staged and forcefully acted as this TWILIGHT is, the production is both problematic and comes across feeling like something is missing.
BWW Review: Andresia Moseley Gives Phenomenal Multi-Character Performance in TWILIGHT: LOS ANGELES 1992 at Jobsite Theater

Twilight, Los Angeles, 1992 is an unflinching look at race relations from the voices of the people that were there, whether in the heart of it or bystanders portrayed by one woman: Andresia Moseley.
BWW Review: TWILIGHT: LOS ANGELES 1992 At Straz Center

27 Characters, 1 performer, allow me to say it again…27 DIFFERENT CHARACTERS, 1 PERFORMER. Over the course of a 2 Hour span, 1 Performer has the daunting task of honing in on 27 different perspectives, different accounts of a real event. A real event that happened in 1992 but hits just as hard at the core today as it did a mere 28 years ago. Think about that for a minute; an event that happened 28 years ago is just as real, just as haunting today as it was back then. In a world surrounded by testimony on all sides of the spectrum, in a world surrounded by opinions where does the grey area fall? Why are events so controversial then be just as relevant in the world we know today? This brings back to memory the prologue from Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, “Two households, both alike in dignity, In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean…” Now 28 years later this has very much become, “…the two-hour traffic of our stage.”

Paige Hernandez directs the Anna Deavere Smith reveting play that stars the multi-talented Danielle A. Drakes.
BWW Review: Words Fail, But Humanity May Prevail in TWILIGHT, LOS ANGELES at the REP

Most of the characters fail to use words properly to convey directly what is important to them or us. But as I have said, the underlying problem is larger. It is a mismatch of moral paradigms. The possibility of rationally settling the underlying issues by a dialogue among the participants is hard to conceive. This play seems instead to be more about making people grasp, at a gut level, the speakers' personhood,

BWW Review: Next Act's Riveting TWILIGHT Opens Milwaukee's Eyes, Hearts and Minds

Milwaukee's Next Act theater needs to be filled to overflowing and sold out each performance this winter for their new production: Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992. Artistic Director David Cecsarini co-directs the play with Jonathan Smoots in a compelling evening where 37 characters, individuals, appear on stage courtesy of a spectacular theatrical company  The six actors represent the diverse human milieu affected by the Rodney King beating, and then the subsequent looting and riots devastating Los Angeles in 1992.
