Staging Breast Cancer Presents SNOWDROPS AND CHLORINE
Snowdrops and Chlorine is part of Staging Breast Cancer. The play continues to address the visibility of breast cancer, but unlike the first play, Mia, where the accent was placed on relationships, femininity, and fertility, the second one brings into view a male breast cancer patient.
FalconWorks to Present THE SANDY MONOLOGUES
Theater Company will present The Sandy Monologues, an original work using spoken word, song and movement that was inspired by the actual words of Hurricane Sandy survivors. This production, slated for June 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, & 12 of 2016, will tackle issues of race & class by zooming in on the lives of a diverse handful of residents who weathered the freak storm that raged from Hispaniola to the Great Lakes The play owes gratitude to the EMMP Tell Your Story Project interviews and the article 'Race, Class and Disaster Gentrification' by Zoltan Gluck.
Giles, Desai, Beck in Young Playwrights' 'What's New?!'
Eight young playwrights (ages 12 to 13), all members of The 52nd Street Project from Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood, will debut plays that they have written for themselves to perform alongside a cast of actors that will feature such stage and television stars as Nancy Giles ('CBS Sunday Morning'), Jeremy Beck, Tim Cain, Angel Desai, Reg Flowers, Maile Holck, Josh Moody, and Keira Naughton. The short plays entitled WHAT'S NEW?!? will play Friday, October 19 at 7:30 PM; Saturday, October 20 at 7:30 PM; and Sunday, October 21 at 3:00 PM at The Julia Miles Theater (424 West 55th Street, corner of 9th Avenue). Admission is free, but reservations are required.
