A Special Screening and Q&A Will Be Held With the Director and Producers of AN AMERICAN BALLET STORY

An American Ballet Story, a documentary about Rebekah Harkness that takes us into the stages and studios of the Harkness Ballet through the stories of the dancers who were there, will be screened at the Bruno Auditorium at the New York Public Library at the Performing Arts at 111 Amsterdam Avenue in NYC on Thursday, April 20 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Misty Copeland to Open 2018 Dance Magazine Awards

Misty Copeland will open the 61st annual Dance Magazine Awards. The evening will honor Ronald K. Brown, Lourdes Lopez(presented by Darren Walker), Crystal Pite, and Michael Trusnovec (presented by Patrick Corbin). A special Leadership Award will be presented to Nigel Redden. Since 1954 the Dance Magazine Awards have recognized outstanding men and women whose contributions have left a lasting impact on dance. This year's Awards will take place on Monday December 3, 2018 at The Ailey Citigroup Theater at 7:30pm.
Dance Magazine's Annual Awards to Benefit The Harkness Foundation

Dance Magazine has announced that the annual Dance Magazine Awards, the most prestigious awards event in dance, will make the Harkness Foundation for Dance the beneficiary of the proceeds from the event, which will be held Monday, December 4, 2017, at the Ailey Citigroup Theater, 405 W. 55th St.
The Harkness Foundation for Dance to Distribute $5 Million in Grants

Over the next decade, The Harkness Foundation for Dance will contribute $1 million each to five organizations of prominent importance to the dance field. The grantees are the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), The Joyce Theater, New York City Center, the 92nd Street Y (92Y), and NYU Langone Medical Center's Hospital for Joint Diseases (HJD), which houses the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary.
BWW Interviews: Hilda Morales: An Extraordinary Career with Pennsylvania Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Antony Tudor and the Hartt School of Dance

Hilda Morales was born in N.Y. City, and grew up in Puerto Rico. Her early training was with Ana Garcia of the Ballet San Juan. At 14 years of age, Ms. Morales received a Ford Foundation Scholarship to study at George Balanchine's School of American Ballet. She danced as a principal dancer with the Pennsylvania Ballet, soloist with American Ballet Theatre, artist-in-residence with the Colorado Ballet and guest appearances with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Albuquerque Ballet and Jacksonville Ballet. During her dancing career, Ms. Morales performed in full-length classic ballets as well as works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Agnes de Mille, Antony Tudor, John Butler, Alvin Ailey, and Jose Limon. Ms. Morales was featured in the movie The Turning Point, in the role of Sandra, directed by Herbert Ross. She guest teaches and is on the faculty of the Central Pennsylvania summer programs, and joined The Hartt School faculty in 1998.
Harkness Foundation Executive Director Theodore S. Bartwink Announces Retirement

The Harkness Foundation for Dance announced the retirement of its beloved long-time Executive Director, Theodore S. Bartwink as of January 31, 2014. Mr. Bartwink, 85 years old, is continuing physical therapy and rehabilitation from the grievous injuries suffered when run ­down by a car near his home in Kew Gardens, Queens, NY in February 2013.
