Winners Announced For 'Mercer County Artists 2019' At MCCC Gallery

A recent Mercer County Community College alumnus took home the coveted Best in Show award as 36 artists from throughout the county displayed their creations during the opening reception of the Mercer County Artists 2019 show at The Gallery at Mercer.
Annual Mercer Co. Artists Exhibit Opens Tonight

The talents of 36 Mercer County artists will be on display at the Gallery at Mercer County Community College (MCCC) in 'Mercer County Artists 2019,' which opens Monday, May 20 and runs through Monday, July 8. The Gallery at Mercer is located on the second floor of the Communications Building on Mercer's West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.
Country Music Hall Of Fame Member Maxine Brown Russell Passes

Maxine Brown Russell, the vivacious entertainer, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend passed today at Bowman Hospice in Little Rock, Arkansas from complications of heart and kidney disease at the age of 87. Her family was by her side.   Born April 27, 1931 in Campti, Louisiana, Russell was predeceased by her parents, Floyd and Birdie Brown, sisters Bonnie Ring and Norma Sullivan, brothers Jim Ed Brown and Raymond Brown, and her son, Tommy H. Russell, Jr. 
MERCER COUNTY ARTISTS 2016 to Open Next Week at MCCC

Last night I had the privilege to go to the 3rd annual FADE TO BLACK playwright's festival. Houston has its share of fringe events, but there wasn't a playwright's festival celebrating the works of black playwrights until Denise O'Neal conceived the FADE TO BLACK festival. In their 3rd year of operation, the FADE TO BLACK festival is on the rise and serves as a platform for the creative voices of black theatre artists of the future. Not only do the playwrights get the chance to show their work, actors and directors have an opportunity to flex their creative muscles. An esteemed panel of judges read a lot of plays and narrowed it down to 10 titles that were rehearsed and presented last night.
