BWW Review: THE THIN PLACE at ACT
Do you like a good ghost story, Dear Readers? I do. I love it when a creepy tale can make my flesh crawl and jump out of my seat. But there are so few creepy tales on stage. Well, enter Lucas Hnath’s “The Thin Place” currently performing at ACT. Not only is this a truly terrifying tale but it’s from one of the hottest new playwrights around today, author of “Dana H” and “A Dolls House, Part 2”. Add into that a stellar cast and you have a frightfully fun evening on your hands.
BWW Review: Seattle Public Theater's THE OTHER PLACE Beyond Brilliant
Dealing with a potentially unreliable narrator can be an emotionally frustrating experience. I feel betrayed by a production where I feel like I cannot believe what the storyteller is conveying to me, because, truly, what was the point of entrusting a deceptive narrator with your time? But in 'The Other Place' at Seattle Public Theater, our narrator Juliana Smithton's fluctuation of truth and delusion is, in fact, her subjective truth in a story of dementia and the trauma it inflicts. Never once did I feel betrayed by our protagonist: if anything, I felt I learned the most about her story from the grey area between reality and fantasy thanks to Amy Thone's brilliant performance.

BWW Reviews: An Uneven AS YOU LIKE IT at Seattle Shakespeare Company
There are some Shakespeare shows that are not quite as bulletproof as others. If the pacing isn't there or the casting or both then they can run into an uphill battle. Such was the case with Seattle Shakespeare Company's current production of "As You Like It". While having some lovely moments and definitely picking itself up in Act Two, it suffered from some uneven casting and pacing that left the show just so so.
