BWW Review: THE MISER at Stratford Festival is Rich with Laughter
Originally scheduled for the 2020 season, THE MISER, starring Colm Feore and directed by Antoni Cimolino, is currently playing at the Stratford Festival’s Festival Theatre stage. This Moliere comedy of manners fits right into current times, and this new adaptation by Ranjit Bolt is filled with pop culture references that elicit many a chuckle and belly laugh from the audience. The deliciously funny cast is in fine form and Feore appears to be having the time of his life.

Lue Douthit, President and Co-Founder says: 'Well, the theater world is definitely opening up. We literally mean 'world' (Prague, Guam, England) and suddenly there are ten professional productions of Play On translations opening in the next few months, including two in San Francisco (African-American Shakespeare Company and Cal Shakes). We are delighted that there are so many opportunities for audiences to gather together again to see and hear Shakespeare differently. Play on!'

THE BRAILLE LEGACY Musical Announces All-Blind Cast
“The Braille Legacy” is the story of a great mind, Louis Braille, the blind young man who wanted the same chance in life as those who see. From an original French book and lyrics by Sébastien Lancrenon and music by Jean-Baptiste Saudray, translated by Ranjit Bolt, the show is directed by co-founder and Artistic Director, Greg Shane, with musical direction from Laurie Grant and executive produced by Martine Melloul.

Festival, presented in association with Classic Stage Company (CSC) and Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF). Play on! features 39 readings of new, work-in-progress translations of Shakespeare's plays into contemporary modern English by some of today's most exciting playwrights-May 29-June 30 at the Lynn F. Angelson Theater at CSC (136 E. 13th Street). In 2015, Oregon Shakespeare Festival launched an ambitious 39-play, three-year commissioning project, Play on!, tasking 36 playwrights-more than half of whom were women and playwrights of color, each paired with a dramaturg-to translate Shakespeare's canon in celebration of the enduring impact of the Bard's work. Supported by a generous grant from the Hitz Foundation and inspired by long-time patron Dave Hitz's passion for Shakespeare, the project was and continues to be led by Lue Morgan Douthit. This free staged reading is directed by Portland Shakes Artistic Director Michael Mendelson and is presented at Artists Repertory Theatre, on the Alder Stage, Sunday, May 6, at 7:30pm. The evening includes two free discussions, one pre-show beginning at 6:30pm and another post-show.

The story of a charlatan getting the better of a fool, despite the misgivings and warnings of his family, the dialogue is delivered in rhyming couplets, or what I refer to as satiric verses.
