Randy Noojin (Playwright, Performer)
A graduate of The University of Iowa’s Playwrights Workshop, Randy’s plays have been produced at Actor’s Theatre of Louisville, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Circle Rep Lab, Bloomington’s Playwrights Project, nationwide and internationally. His play-with-music, THE MEMORY COLLECTION (THE MUSIC AND LEGEND OF BASCOM LAMAR LUNSFORD) was produced at Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre for which he was awarded an NEA Grant for Musical Theatre.
His play, YOU CAN’T TRUST THE MALE is included in Applause Books BEST AMERICAN SHORT PLAYS 91-92. His play UNBEATABLE HAROLD is now a film starring Dylan McDermott, Gladys Knight and Charles Durning, it premiered at HBO COMEDY ARTS FESTIVAL and played on Showtime in 2011. Randy’s one-man play with music, HARD TRAVELIN’ WITH WOODY had its world premiere in The New York International Fringe Festival in August 2011. His play THE COMPLAINT was produced by Cockeyed Optimists at The 45th Street Theatre in October 2011.
Randy has played Hank Williams in numerous productions of HANK WILLIAMS: LOST HIGHWAY at Mill Mountain Playhouse, New Stage in MS, and twice at Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre.
Recently, Randy did Edward Albee’s THE GOAT, OR WHO IS SYLVIA at Actor’s Theatre of Phoenix, directed by Marshall W. Mason. In New York, he has acted in hundreds of plays at Circle Repertory, La Mama E.T.C., Circle-in-the-Square Downtown, The Circle Rep Lab, The Kraine, The 45th Street Theatre, The Flamboyan, Alice’s 4th Floor, West Bank Theatre Downstairs and The Drilling Company.
