The Philly POPS Presents A Month Of Programming For National Jazz Appreciation Month
The Philly POPS JAMS for the month of April, with a full month of activities supporting the nationwide celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month — including educational content from POPS in Schools @ Home, virtual masterclasses from members of The Philly POPS and the Jazz Orchestra of Philadelphia, virtual student performances in the All-City Jazz Festival, “Notes from the Masters of Jazz” videos from Artistic Director for Jazz Terell Stafford and acclaimed saxophonist Tim Warfield, and a special surprise for month's end.
The Philly POPS And The Kimmel Center Present School District Of Philadelphia's 2019 All-City Jazz Festival
The Philly POPS and the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts will present the School District of Philadelphia's All-City Jazz Festival. The day of free jazz performances by student and professional musicians will be held in the Kimmel Center's Perelman Theater and Commonwealth Plaza on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 from noon 9 p.m. This will be the POPS's fifth year presenting this event and the third year in partnership with the Kimmel Center.
New Philly POPS BIG Band to Debut on 7/4
The new Philly POPS BIG Band will perform its first two shows on July 4 during the Wawa Welcome America Festival. At 10 a.m., the ensemble will play at the City of Philadelphia's July 4 Celebration of Freedom ceremony and parade on Independence Mall. At 7 p.m., the BIG Band will open the city's Wawa Welcome America July 4th Concert and fireworks show on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. NBC10 and Telemundo62 will televise both performances.
