The World Music Institute's annual Dancing the Gods festival celebrates its 11th year, once again in a virtual format. Audiences will be treated to spectacular performances from two of India's most revered and globally recognized dancers. Each program will begin with a pre-show slide presentation from festival curator and respected Indian dance expert and storyteller, Rajika Puri - 'Storytelling Traditions in India''.
Battery Dance Festival To Feature 40 In-Person Performances In Celebration Of 40th Anniversary

Battery Dance celebrates the 40th Anniversary of its free summer festival from August 12-20, 2021, in partnership with Battery Park City Authority. The 40th Annual Battery Dance Festival features 16 international dance films from August 12-14 at 7pm ET via YouTube. 40 in-person and livestreamed performances will be staged at Robert F. Wagner, Jr. Park, New York City, from August 15-20 at 7pm ET. In total, 32 premieres by 53 dance companies are offered to international audiences, promoting Battery Dance’s mission of connecting the world through dance.

Fortunately, thanks to India's independence, the help of activists, scholars and performers revitalizing ancient yet timeless traditions, and organizations like Battery Dance Festival, Manipuri dance can continue to thrive not only in India but on the world's stage. Lord Krishna must be pleased!
