Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company’s gala, A MAMMOTH RENAISSANCE, was a night to remember, as more than 350 attendees at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library joined in honoring social activist, political strategist, philanthropist, and modern “Renaissance man” Luis A. Miranda, Jr. More than $565,000 — the most in Woolly’s history — was raised to support its work towards a radically inclusive theatre industry.

113 Southern California High School Students are Semifinalists in The Music Center's 32nd Annual Spotlight Program
The Music Center named 113 of Southern California's most talented high school students as semifinalists in The Music Center's 32nd annual Spotlight (Spotlight) program, a free nationally acclaimed scholarship and arts training program for teens. Since its launch in 1988, Spotlight has transformed the lives of 49,000 students across Southern California by being more than just a competition. An important part of The Music Center's fundamental support for arts education, the arts training program provides students the opportunity to develop their performance abilities, learn about careers in arts management and receive valuable college preparedness and workforce readiness skills to pursue their dreams in the performing arts. This year, nearly 1,400 teens representing more than 260 schools, 198 cities and eight counties auditioned for the prestigious program.
The Music Center Names Martin Wechsler as Senior Advisor for Dance Programming
The Music Center's President and CEO Rachel S. Moore today announced the addition of dance curator/producer Martin Wechsler as a senior advisor for TMC Arts Dance presentations, including its Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center series and other related dance initiatives. Wechsler will bring more than 30 years' experience in the dance field, including programming, commissioning and administrative expertise, to The Music Center, one of the nation's largest performing arts centers.

Music Center Announces ADES & MCGREGOR: A DANCE COLLABORATION
The Music Center today announced new details regarding Ades & McGregor: A Dance Collaboration, a major partnership between the LA Phil and Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center combining the creative talents of Grammy Award-winning composer-conductor Thomas Ades and multi award-winning British choreographer Wayne McGregor (July 12-13, 2019). This exclusive presentation at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion highlights the relationship between music and movement, and also features the work of visual artist Tacita Dean and video installation by designer Ben Cullen Williams. A new work by McGregor incorporates an AI-driven choreographic tool designed by Google Arts & Culture-a technological first for the dance world.
The Music Center Presents The Royal Ballet
After a 24-year absence from Los Angeles, Great Britain's most prestigious ballet company The Royal Ballet returns to The Music Center for two back-to-back-weekends this July at The Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. From July 5-7, 2019, The Royal Ballet performs its masterpiece, Mayerling, a three-act work depicting scandal and murder in the 19th century Austro-Hungarian Empire.
South Africa Makes Ballet History On The Bolshoi Stage In Moscow This Month
For the first time in the history of the Prix Benois De La Danse International Ballet Competition there will be two representatives from South Africa at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow: South African International Ballet Competition (SAIBC) Founder Dirk Badenhorst takes his place as the first ever South African jury member, and Soweto-born dancer Andile Ndlovu (pictured), now USA based, will perform in the prestigious event gala on 22 May as one of this year's 27 nominees for the Benois de la Danse award as Best Male Dancer for his role as 'Mercutio' in Washington Ballet's Romeo and Juliet.
