BIO

Rachel Kaufman (Music Director) is an established multi-instrumentalist who has music directed and/or played for well over 300 musicals and cabaret shows world-wide. Theater credits include: Off-B'way: Tale of Two Cities (10th year reunion concert at the Birdland Theatre), Goldstein: The Musical (with Megan McGinnis), Oliver! (with Brian Stokes Mitchell), Schoolhouse Rock Live!, and A Taste of Things to Come (Lorin Latarro, dir.); Tours: Rent, Phantom of the Opera, Ain't Misbehavin', Five Guys Named Moe, and Smokey Joe's Café; Regional: Tom Jones (North Shore), Hallelujah, Baby! (Arthur Laurents, dir.), and Golf: The Musical. Rachel can be also seen playing for auditions, classes, improv comedy groups, at churches, piano bars, restaurants and, during the summer, she has played in the orchestra and atrium on many cruise ships. She has also worked with such Broadway greats as Donna McKechnie, Baayork Lee, Hinton Battle, Savion Glover, and Donna Murphy, just to name a few. Rachel holds a B.A. in Music (and Russian) from the University of Chicago.

?BAAD! - The Bronx Academy of Arts & Dance forges forward with the 16th annual BAAD!ASS WOMEN FESTIVAL, celebrating the empowerment of women through art, culture and performance.  The festival includes several evenings of dance, theatre, poetry, music and performance. The festival takes place at BAAD!, 2474 Westchester Avenue in the Westchester Square section of the Bronx. Ticket prices vary from free to $20.  Participants can take advantage of the Five for $5 special (you and four 'girlfriends' make a group of five and pay only $5 each with a prior reservation.)  BAAD! offers discounts to BAADGE cardholders, BCA cardholders and NALAC members, and free admission to residents of 10474 and 10461 zip codes.
