Review: PIPPIN - 50TH ANNIVERSARY CONCERT, Theatre Royal Drury Lane

Stephen Schwartz's 70s musical Pippin makes a triumphant return with a note perfect casting at Drury Lane's concert version, with Fosse-inspired choreography and costumes given a disco pride vibe. Alex Newell's vocals do not disappoint, Jac Yarrow is a fine lead, while Patricia Hodge is a poignant Berthe.

The Old Vic today announced the two new specially commissioned monologues for Queers, curated by Mark Gatiss, to mark Pride Month. I Threw It, written by Travis Alabanza and performed by Kim Tatum AKA Mzz Kimberley, and Bee, by Jade Anouka and performed by Pearl Mackie, will be directed by Sean Linnen.

Sarah Frankcom, Royal Exchange Artistic Director, creates a brand-new version of Broadway's biggest musical WEST SIDE STORY for the Royal Exchange Theatre's unique in-the-round stage. Celebrated for her reinterpretations of American classics, A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, DEATH OF A SALESMAN and her award-winning production OUR TOWN, she brings a new focus to the gang culture of the iconic Sharks and Jets with new choreography from Aletta Collins and orchestration by Jason Carr. The production runs in the Theatre from 6 April - 25 May.
