Toronto International Film Festival announces TIFF Tribute Awards Gala
Joana Vicente and Cameron Bailey, Co-Heads of TIFF, today announced the TIFF Tribute Gala, an annual awards fundraiser to support TIFF's year-round programmes and core mission to transform the way people see the world through film, and to celebrate the film industry's outstanding contributors. The event takes place Monday, September 9 at the Fairmont Royal York, during the 44th Toronto International Film Festival. To recognize their leadership in creating a union between social impact and cinema, the TIFF Tribute Gala will introduce the new TIFF Impact Award. Participant Media will receive the inaugural award, which will be accepted by Founder and Chairman Jeff Skoll and CEO David Linde, marking an incredible 15 years of social action through storytelling. The TIFF Tribute Gala will also include the new Mary Pickford Award, honouring a female emerging talent in the industry. The inaugural award is given this year in celebration of United Artists' 100th anniversary. The recipient of this award, as well as additional honourees for the TIFF Tribute Gala, will be announced in the coming weeks.

Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer Michèle Maheux to Retire from TIFF in Summer 2019
Today, on behalf of the TIFF Board of Directors, Jennifer Tory, Chair, announced that longstanding Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer Michèle Maheux will retire from the organization in summer 2019. Prior to her departure next year, Maheux will play a key role in ensuring a smooth leadership transition as Cameron Bailey takes on the extended role of Artistic Director & Co-Head alongside an incoming Executive Director & Co-Head.
DONNYBROOK to Open the TIFF's 2018 Platform Programme
The Toronto International Film Festival® announced today that the World Premiere of Donnybrook, the powerful new film from Tim Sutton (Memphis, Dark Night) will be the opening film of the Festival's Platform programme. Starring Frank Grillo, Margaret Qualley, James Badge Dale and Jamie Bell, the film is Sutton's fourth directorial effort, most ambitious project to date, and his first title at the Festival.
World Premiere of JESSICA FOREVER to Close TIFF's 2018 Platform Programme
The Toronto International Film Festival® announced today that the World Premiere of Caroline Poggi and Jonathan Vinel's highly anticipated feature-film debut, Jessica Forever, will be the closing film of the Festival's 2018 Platform programme. Cameron Bailey Appointed Co-Head of the Toronto International Film Festival
The Board of Directors of TIFF announced today the appointment of Cameron Bailey to the newly created position of Artistic Director & Co-Head of TIFF. The role is a promotion and expansion of Bailey's current position of Artistic Director, which he has held since 2012. Prior to that, Bailey held the role of Festival Co-Director from 2008-2012. Bailey will report directly to the Board of Directors effective October 1, 2018.
TIFF Appoints Andréa Grau as Vice President, Public Relations and Corporate Affairs
Piers Handling, Director & CEO of TIFF, today announced the appointment of Andréa Grau to the role of Vice President, Public Relations and Corporate Affairs, effective February 5, 2018. Grau will lead TIFF's in-house agency, Dept. 30, comprised of the Communications, Marketing, Digital, Creative and Editorial teams. She will be part of TIFF Senior Management, providing leadership and guidance for the organization.
TIFF Teams with China Film Archive to Bring Canadian Films to Beijing
TIFF is bringing a collection of classic and contemporary Canadian films to Beijing, in partnership with the China Film Archive. The CFA will present Canada's Ten Best: New Cinema From the North, running from November 3 to 12. It will showcase a selection of Canada's leading films, programmed in association with TIFF, including several highlighted in TIFF's annual Canada's Top Ten Film Festival, as well as a selection of retrospective titles from TIFF's Canada on Screen sesquicentennial series. Telefilm Canada and the Embassy of Canada in China are also partners on this unique showcase of Canadian films.
