TIFF Teams with China Film Archive to Bring Canadian Films to Beijing
TIFF is bringing a collection of classic and contemporary Canadian films to Beijing, in partnership with the China Film Archive. The CFA will present Canada's Ten Best: New Cinema From the North, running from November 3 to 12. It will showcase a selection of Canada's leading films, programmed in association with TIFF, including several highlighted in TIFF's annual Canada's Top Ten Film Festival, as well as a selection of retrospective titles from TIFF's Canada on Screen sesquicentennial series. Telefilm Canada and the Embassy of Canada in China are also partners on this unique showcase of Canadian films.
A Week of French Language Cinema Kicks Off in Los Angeles
For the seventh year, Theatre Raymond Kabbaz presents A Week of French Language Cinema in Los Angeles, as part of the 2016 celebration of the Francophonie, with free nightly screenings from today, March 19, to March 24 at 7:30PM (except March 21).
Kean Human Rights Institute to Screen THE GOOD LIE, 10/8
John Prendergast, Kean University's Human Rights Senior Fellow, will present a screening of The Good Lie on October 8 at 7:15 p.m. in the state-of-the-art STEM Auditorium, located in Kean's STEM Building. The premiere will be attended by Mr. Prendergast, an internationally acclaimed human rights activist, who appears in the film and has a longstanding relationship with the University.

Barrington Stage Company, the award-winning theatre in downtown Pittsfield, MA, under the leadership of Julianne Boyd Artistic Director and Tristan Wilson Managing Director, is proud to present the American Premiere of Bashir Lazhar, from May 22 through June 8. The Press Opening was on Sunday, May 26 at 3pm.

The 2012 Genie Awards were handed out last Thursday in Toronto, celebrating the best in Canadian film and television. Many stars were on hand, including Viggo Mortensen (showing some major support for the Montreal Canadiens) and Jason Priestly. Hosted by George Strombolopolous, the night was filled with fun and recognition for the great work Canadians are doing in film. BWW was thrilled to be on hand to capture photos of the event.
