Kicking off the 2017-2018 Steppenwolf for Young Adults (SYA) season is Arthur Miller's The Crucible, directed by Jonathan Berry. Steppenwolf Education presents this American classic as part of the SYA season which asks, When does a lie become the truth? Public performances for The Crucible are Saturday, October 7 at 3pm and 7:30pm; Sunday, October 8 at 3pm; Friday, October 13 at 7:30pm; Saturday, October 14 at 3pm and 7:30pm; and Saturday, October 21 at 3pm and 7:30pm in the Downstairs Theatre. The press performance is Saturday, October 7 at 3pm. Weekday performances are reserved for school groups only. Signal Ensemble Theater to Stage PLAINSONG, Begin. 1/30
Signal Ensemble Theatre presents the second production of their 11th Season with the Chicago premiere of Plainsong, at Signal Ensemble Theatre, 1802 W. Berenice Ave. Founded in 2003, award-winning Signal Ensemble Theatre uses a deeply collaborative method to produce work never-before-seen in Chicago. Plainsong is written by Eric Schmiedl and is directed by Signal Ensemble Theatre Member Bries Vannon. The play is adapted from Kent Haruf's National Book Award finalist novel by the same name. Preview performances are on Thursday, Jan. 30 and Friday, Jan. 31 at 8 p.m., followed by opening/press night on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 8 p.m. Performances will run Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. and ticket prices are $20 for single tickets, $15 for industry/students/seniors/groups and $10 for previews. EAST OF BERLIN, MOTION, et al. Set for Signal Ensemble Theatre's 2011-2012 Season
Signal Ensemble Theatre announces their 2011-2012, 9th anniversary season, continuing to perform in their own space, a permanent, leased venue in Chicago's North Center/Lincoln Square district. The group will also debut an initiative called The Ensemble Project, where Signal ensemble members can produce their own projects - including theatre, art, music, and other disciplines - at the Signal space, although not as an 'official' Signal production. The first Ensemble Project event will be Beckett's 'Krapp's Last Tape,' produced and directed by ensemble member Aaron Snook (see below).
