BIO

Training: Royal Manchester College of Music.

Theatre includes: in ten years at the Prince Edward Theatre, Evita directed by Hal Prince, Chess directed by Trevor Nunn and Anything Goes directed by Jerry Zaks. This year Philip celebrates 20 years in The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty’s (from 1998 to 2000 he was resident director). Also in the West End, Kings and Clowns and The Biograph Girl (both at the Phoenix). UK tours include Paul Fontaine in Desert Song andNarrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Pantomimes include Colin in Puss in Boots, Prince Charming in Cinderella and Robinson in Robinson Crusoe. Philip has also appeared in repertory in Othello and Faces of Eve (Salisbury Playhouse).

Opera includes: in 1972 being invited to join the Glyndebourne Festival Opera and Touring Opera companies. He has appeared with Kent Opera, Opera Rara, the New Opera Company, Dublin Grand Opera, English Music Theatre and in productions and concerts in Germany, Italy, France, Denmark, Iceland, Norway and Belgium.

Other work includes: In recognition of his work Philip was made an Honorary Friend of Gregynog Young Musicians Competition and is a supporter of Ysgol Theatr Maldwyn, a drama group for young performers, composers and writers from his home county of Montgomeryshire, Mid-Wales. Philip appears in many concerts in Wales to support local charities and to say thank you to the county of Montgomeryshire for the financial support which has enabled him to have what many would regard as a record-breaking period as a performer.
