New Jersey native Philip Alongi received praise from the Miami Herald for his “clarion top notes and striking physicality” and his “tremendous heart and pathos” were lauded by ConcertoNet.com. Mr. Alongi has performed leading roles from major operatic repertoire throughout the US, including Don José in Carmen, Cavaradossi in Tosca, Luigi in Il Tabarro, Radamès in Aida, Canio in I Pagliacci, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, and Alfredo in La Traviata with companies such as Opera Roanoke, New York Grand Opera, Miami Lyric Opera, New Jersey Verismo Opera, New Rochelle Opera, Center City Opera Theatre of Philadelphia, and many others. Mr. Alongi appeared in concert at the Official Residence of the Consulate General of Japan in Miami with The Lyric Orchestra. He was the tenor soloist in the world premiere of Ryan Malone’s Stabat Mater at Duke University and has performed in numerous concert galas with the likes of New Jersey State Opera, Bronx Opera, Plainfield Symphony, Coro Lirico of New Jersey, and The Klezmer Company Orchestra. His solo oratorio work includes Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, Handel’s Messiah, Gounod’s St. Cecilia Mass, and Dubois’ Seven Last Words of Christ. In 2009, Mr. Alongi was accompanied by the Westminster Brass in presenting a gala concert for Ligonier Ministries at their national conference in Orlando, FL. Mr. Alongi was bestowed the honor of being asked to sing the funeral mass of Tim Russert as well as the televised memorial service at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC in 2008.
Mr. Alongi has performed operatic arias live on the TODAY show from NBC studios in New York, both in 2007 and 2008. He also sang the national anthem at the Republican National Convention in September 2008 in Minneapolis and again in Tampa in August 2012, which was broadcast on every major cable news network for a combined national television audience of 22 million, at the Democratic Presidential Candidates debate, and at the 2010 California Gubernatorial Debate at Dominican University of California, which had over 7 million combined media impressions. Mr. Alongi recorded five songs with internationally acclaimed organist Diane Bish for broadcast on her internationally syndicated show, The Joy of Music.

Mr. Alongi has released two full-length solo albums: 'Heritage', a collection of Italian operatic arias and well-known Neapolitan songs and 'New Life: Songs of Faith", a collection of sacred works, featuring compositions spanning from the 17th century through to contemporary pieces.

Verismo Opera, the Bergen Performing Arts Center's (bergenPAC) house opera company, presents this dramatic opera set in ancient China on Sunday, April 22, 2018. The performance begins at 3:00 p.m. at the theatre, located at 30 North Van Brunt Street, in Englewood, New Jersey. Previously, Verismo Opera performed act three in concerts in 1997 and in 2009.
