Virginia Rep's Artistic Director to Step Down
Virginia Repertory Theatre announces the formation of a Leadership Transition Task Force to begin the search process for a new Artistic Director. After 40 years as a founding artistic leader of Virginia Repertory Theatre (formerly Theatre IV and Barksdale Theatre), Bruce Miller has announced that he will step aside as Artistic Director in July of 2016, "For four decades I've had the best job in the world. It's time to share it with someone new. I look forward to assisting and supporting the new Artistic Director in whatever way I can." Miller will be pursuing new job opportunities at Virginia Rep to lead efforts in development and education.

MAME, Starring Emily Skinner, SOUTH PACIFIC and More Make Up Virginia Rep's 2014-15 Season
Virginia Repertory Theatre revealed the new titles for the 2014/15 Season with a public announcement at the November Theatre last evening. The announcement marks Bruce Miller and Phil Whiteway's 40th season as Artistic Director and Managing Director. Miller reflects on this milestone, "I'm proud to be announcing my 40th season as Artistic Director. The 18 shows that comprise Virginia Rep's 2014/15 roster include several of my favorite comedies, dramas and musicals. Whether a renowned classic or an exciting new release, each selection will take us on a breathtaking journey. I can't wait to discover with our audience the adventures that lie ahead."
KCACTF's 45th Annual Festival Kicks Off in D.C. Today
The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts previously announced national awardees for outstanding work from the regional festivals that were held January 8 through March 3, 2013. Individual awardees and a representative from each of the outstanding productions will travel to the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. for an expenses-paid trip to participate in the 45th annual Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), today, April 15-20, 2013.

Barksdale Theatre and Theatre IV Merge to Form Virginia Repertory Theatre
Barksdale Theatre and Theatre IV announce that the two nonprofit theaters will formally merge effective July 1, 2012 under a new name - Virginia Repertory Theatre (Virginia Rep). With a budget exceeding $5 million, four distinct venues, and an annual audience over 550,000, Virginia Rep will become the largest professional theater and one of the largest performing arts organizations in Central Virginia along with the Richmond Ballet, Richmond Symphony, and the Virginia Opera. Barksdale and Theatre IV celebrated the announcement and the unveiling of the new Virginia Rep sign today, May 20, at the November Theatre (formerly the Empire Theatre) at 114 West Broad Street at 4:00 p.m. after the closing of Seussical, thelast mainstage children's production under the Theatre IV name. Virginia Rep will transition into the new organization between now and July 1.
