Glimmerglass Film Days Brings Films, Art, Filmmakers To Cooperstown, NY
Glimmerglass Film Days will offer five days of independent films, events, art, and filmmaker talks, November 7-11 in Cooperstown. 'Adaptations' is the theme of the seventh annual film festival, which will be held in multiple locations, including the National Baseball Hall of Fame, the Fenimore Art Museum, and the Otesaga Hotel. A record number of 37 films will be shown.
Pennsylvania Ballet Promotes Peter Weil to Soloist
Metropolitan Ballet Academy and Company congratulates its alumnus, Peter Weil, on his recent promotion to Soloist at the Pennsylvania Ballet. Weil, who was raised in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, trained at Metropolitan from ages 7 to 16 under the direction of Artistic Director Lisa Collins Vidnovic-who also performed with the Pennsylvania Ballet for a decade before founding Metropolitan Ballet, a highly acclaimed regional dance studio and non-profit, pre-professional performing company.
Pennsylvania Ballet Announces 20 Promotions and New Company Ranking
Pennsylvania Ballet's Artistic Director Angel Corella is pleased to announce updates to the 2019-2020 season roster with two new ranks Demi Soloist and First Soloist and 20 promotions, including Zecheng Liang to Principal Dancer and Yuka Iseda, Albert Gordon and Nayara Lopes to First Soloists. The ranks at Pennsylvania Ballet are now (in ascending order): Apprentice, Corps de Ballet, Demi Soloist, Soloist, First Soloist and Principal Dancer.
BalletX Dancer Daniel Mayo Joins Faculty Of Metropolitan Ballet's Boys' Scholarship Program
Acclaimed dancer Daniel Mayo, a member of the BalletX contemporary ballet company since 2014, will teach classical dance for the Metropolitan Ballet Company (MBC) Boys' Scholarship Program during the 2018-19 season, announced MBC founder and Artistic Director Lisa Collins Vidnovic. Mayo gave his final performance for BalletX this summer, and looks forward to joining the MBC faculty. The academic and performance season commencing in September 2018 is the 20th anniversary of MBC's renowned Boys' Scholarship Program, which provides tuition-free dance training in all-male classes for boys from ages 7 to 18.
Metropolitan Ballet Company 20th Anniversary Gala Performance Set for 6/4
?Metropolitan Ballet Academy & Company (MBA/MBC), recognized by Pointe magazine as one of “seven local studios in America cultivating top talent” (Oct/Nov 2011), will celebrate its 20th Anniversary year with a Gala Performance on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 4:00 pm. Alumni from Metropolitan's two decades of training will return from their professional engagements with dance companies across America to perform in the Gala, which also features pre-professional Metropolitan Ballet Company dancers in classical and contemporary works. The Gala Performance will be held at the Josephine Muller Auditorium of Abington Friends School, 575 Washington Lane, Jenkintown, PA 19046. Metropolitan Ballet Academy alumnus, Peter Weil, age 18, will join the Next Generation Ballet as a New Artist for the 2014 -2015 season, and as a former YAGP Medal winner, has been invited by Youth America Grand Prix to appear in the International Young Medal Winners Ballet Performances at the XIX Annual International Ballet Festival of Miami, on September 6th, 2014.
