Review: PREDICTOR Foretells a Hit at Capital Stage

“Who made that?” is the question we didn’t know we needed the answer to. In Jennifer Blackmer’s new play, Predictor, we learn that it’s one of the most important questions in the struggle for female equality. Throughout history, men have taken credit for women’s accomplishments. Things such as wireless communication (created by Hedy Lamarr), a cure for leprosy (Alice Ball), disposable diapers (Marion Donovan), and even the game Monopoly (Elizabeth Magie Phillips) were all invented by women whose names were lost in the annals of history until recently. Thankfully, due to the diligence of Blackmer, we also now know the name Meg Crane, who changed the course of women’s lives forever with her invention: the home pregnancy test.
THE WICKHAMS: CHRISTMAS AT PEMBERLEY is Coming to Capital Stage This Holiday Season

City Theatre at Sacramento City College closes out its all online 2020-21 season with 10 Ways to Survive Life in a Quarantine. Playwright Don Zolidis has written a comedic Zoom play with a menagerie of characters sharing their quick and quirky home quarantine survival techniques. Capital Stage Announces 14th Season of Plays

Capital Stage brings you its 14th Season of professional thought provoking theatre.
MARJORIE PRIME Comes to Capital Stage

Capital Stage and American Stage come together to share resources, artists, and talent for this production of Marjorie Prime by Jordan Harrison, who also wrote Maple & Vine, and writes for the Netflix Original Series Orange Is The New Black. Marjorie Prime was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 2015 and is directed by Capital Stage's own Founding Artistic Director, Stephanie Gularte. The production stars Capital Stage Associate Artists Janis Stevens (August: Osage County, Macbeth, Master Class) and Jamie Jones (August: Osage County, The Totalitarians, Tribes, Dinner with Friends). Stephanie Gularte founded Capital Stage in 2004, and served as Artistic Director for 10 years. She has now put together a creative team including both American Stage and Capital Stage artists for this production, which will have a run both in St. Pete (March 7 - April 1), as well as in Sacramento at Capital Stage (May 2 - June 3). Press Opening at Capital Stage will be Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 8:00 pm.

Capital Stage presents the Special Holiday Production and Sacramento Premiere of Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley by Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon. This instant holiday classic continues the story of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and has delighted audiences since its premiere in 2016. Miss Bennet will be directed by Capital Stage Co-Founder Peter Mohrmann and is a special production in addition to the 2017/18 Season. Performances will run from December 6 - 30, 2017 with a Press Opening on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 8:00 pm.

Capital Stage presents Stuping F##king Bird by Aaron Posner, the irreverent adaptation of Chekov's classic The Seagull, originally comissioned and first performed by Woolly Mammoth Theatre in Washington, DC in 2013. Michael Stevenson, Capital Stage Producing Artistic Director, will direct this Sacramento Premiere which will feature a powerhouse cast of local favorites including Brittni Barger, Jason Kuykendall and Capital Stage Co-Founder Peter Mohrmann. Bird will be the fifth production of Capital Stage's 2016-17 Season: Love + War, and will run from May 3 - June 4, 2017 with a Press Opening on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 8pm.
