Mark Weiss, was a 14-year old kid from New Jersey when he made a deal with a neighbor to cut his lawn in exchange for a 35mm camera. Thus began a lifelong journey of rock & roll mayhem that continues to this day. While in high school, Mark would sneak his camera into concerts, paying off security guards to get him closer to the stage. Mark developed the prints in his parent's bathroom to sell the next morning out of his school locker and then in front of the concert venue that night.
MOOD Records Releases 'Best of MOOD 2018' Mixed by Carlo Ruetz
Revisiting some of the year's biggest tracks in techno, Nicole Moudaber's MOOD Records presents 'Best of MOOD 2018,' mixed by label favorite Carlo Ruetz. The 9th Annual Holiday Market returns to Bethel Woods Center for the Arts on Saturday and Sunday, December 1-2, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. daily. The free event gives guests the opportunity to shop locally and features a wide selection of unique holiday gift options created by artists, crafters and specialty food vendors. This year will be the largest Holiday Market to date, featuring 75 vendors from across the region in the Market Sheds and Event Gallery, backlit by a cozy fire. This year's Holiday Market will also feature a selection of food trucks and outdoor vendors.

The Skirball Cultural Center today unveiled details about Leonard Bernstein at 100, the official exhibition celebrating the centennial of Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990). Through more than 150 objects - including photographs, papers, scores, correspondence, costumes, furniture, and films, as well as interactive displays - the retrospective explores half a century of activity by the renowned American composer, conductor, pianist, and humanitarian, who dedicated his life to making classical music a vibrant part of American life. In particular, it offers insight into Bernstein's creative process and enduring legacy, including his contributions as both a pioneering educator and an engaged citizen who lent his voice to many social justice causes.

Announcing Lincoln Center's White Light Festival 2017
Ehrenkranz Artistic Director Jane Moss today announced Lincoln Center's 2017 White Light Festival, which runs from October 18 through November 15. With more than 35 events presented in 13 venues throughout the city, including U.S. and New York premieres and nine commissions, the eighth annual international festival will explore transcendence, interior illumination, and faith in the human spirit, as exhibited through artistic expression across continents and centuries. The multidisciplinary festival takes its name from a quotation by Estonian composer Arvo Part: "Icouldcomparemymusic to white light, which contains all colors. Only a prism can divide the colors and make them appear; this prism could be the spirit of the listener."

As a centerpiece of its 25th anniversary season, HERE (Kristin Marting, Artistic Director and Kim Whitener, Producing Director) will present the world premiere commission of Thomas Paine in Violence by 2016-17 HERE resident artist Paul Pinto (thingNY, Varispeed, Robert Ashley) and directed by Obie-winner Rick Burkhardt (Here Be Sirens, Three Pianos, Nonsense Company).
Premieres of Two Operas and Broadcast of Peter Rosen Documentary Announced, 10/19-21
The New York premieres and world premiere production of Gordon Getty's "Scare Pair," a double-bill by the San Francisco-based composer, pairs his two one act-operas -- Usher House and The Canterville Ghost -- together for the first time on October 19 and 21 (7:30pm) at The Sylvia and Danny Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (located at East 68th Street, between Lexington and Park Avenues). Both works, with the libretto and music by Mr. Getty, will be sung in English and have a running time of 60 minutes each.
