The Finzi Trust is launching an International Choral Composing Competition this month in a bid to discover exciting new talent. It is the latest in the Trust's projects to continue the important legacy of Gerald Finzi, an English composer who always sought to encourage composers and artists.

Award Winning Composer & Top Agent Complete Onstage Acts Faculty

Award-winning composer Dougal Irvine (Departure Lounge, Teddy) and major entertainment agent Stuart Piper of Cole Kitchenn complete the faculty line-up for this year's Onstage Acts summer course. Dougal will lead a session exploring his own material, giving a unique insight into the mind of the composer, and Stuart will lead an exclusive and invalu- able Q&A session. They join previously announced Producer and Casting Director Danielle Tarento (Titanic, Dogfight), 2015 Olivier Award winner for Best Actress in a Musical Katie Brayben and the original creative team comprised of Paul Spicer, Julie Atherton (Avenue Q, The Last Five Years) and Musical Director Susanna Squires.

Julie Atherton and Paul Spicer Set for Stage Acts Productions' ONSTAGE ACTS 2015, July 27-31

Following the success of their inaugural year, Stage Acts Productions reprise Onstage Acts, a summer course in new and contemporary musical theatre in 2015 at the new student- friendly price of only £150. Taking place in London between 27th-31st July, the course will be curated by contemporary musical theatre favourites Julie Atherton & Paul Spicer, and will feature masterclasses from theatre professionals working across the length and breadth of the industry.

Julie Atherton and Paul Spicer have a long and varied history with new and contemporary musical theatre, both as individuals and as a pair. Together they co-founded Notes from New York, a concert series designed with the intention of introducing London to new musical theatre and making it cool, and celebrated its 5 year anniversary with a fully staged production of Jason Robert Brown's cult musical The Last 5 Years. They were also the original team behind Taking Notes, a summer course developed to share their skills with aspiring actors. This summer, they continue their mission to inspire a new generation of musical theatre performers with Onstage Acts, a week long enrichment programme in new and contemporary musical theatre featuring masterclasses with casting directors, agents, composers and directors, as well as performers currently working in the West End and beyond. Ahead of the course's launch on August 4th, Julie and Paul shared some of their favourite contemporary musical theatre moments from the careers which made them West End theatre's reigning experts on the subject.
