Owens scratches the surface of Welsh underdevelopment and economic deprivation, going as far as giving Julie a perfunctory invective against posh kids, but refraining from digging deeper into the issues. It’s disheartening to see such a big platform being under-exploited to the benefit of a silly narrative. Having a diversity of accents across three stages doesn't automatically guarantee quality.

The National Theatre today announces nine productions that will play on the South Bank in 2020-2021 alongside previously announced shows. These run alongside our international touring productions, three plays that will tour to multiple venues across the UK and a West End transfer. The NT also announces today that it will increase the quantity of low-price tickets on the South Bank by 25%, with 250,000 available across the year at £20 or less.

SAINT GEORGE AND THE DRAGON Starts Tonight at the National Theatre
Saint George and the Dragon, a new play by Rory Mullarkey, will be directed by Lyndsey Turner. The show runs in previews from tonight 4 October, with press night 11 October, and continues in the repertoire until 2 December 2017 at the National Theatre.
