Patrick Nims is a graduate of California State University San Francisco, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts, Directing Emphasis. After taking a hiatus from directing (during which he and his wife Marina raised a family and he started a business), Patrick re-entered theatre in 2006. In 2009 Patrick co-founded Marin Summer Theater with Emily Gates and served as MST?s Artistic Director. Pat has directed over fifty musicals, plays, and other productions for professional, semi-professional, and educational theater. "The joy of directing comes from connecting with, and then translating the message, meaning and essence of an author's written work into physical reality. The job of the director is to nurture the vision that comes from this connection, and to work with the production team and cast to keep everyone and everything (sets, lights, costumes, actors, props, etc) focused on contributing to the story. Great theatre is created when every component, piece and action embodies the story and engages the audience."
