The Johnny Mercer Foundation Names J. Patrick Lundquist Winner of First Alan & Marilyn Bergman Award

The Johnny Mercer Foundation will celebrate Patrick Lundquist as the FIRST EVER recipient of ASCAP Foundation Alan and Marilyn Bergman Lyric Award. The Award-winning lyric, The Way Back Home was written at the Johnny Mercer Songwriters Project at Northwestern under the mentorship of master teachers Andrew Lippa, Craig Carnelia, and the late Lari White.

54 Below, Broadway's Supper Club, presents the 2015 Johnny Mercer Writers Colony Concert, featuring the works of Colony participants Peter Cincotti and Pia Cincotti (The Last Laugh), Michael R. Jackson (A Strange Loop), Jean Rohe (The Odysseus Agreement), and Patrick Lundquist & Peter Seibert (Puccini). The Johnny Mercer Foundation (JMF) and Goodspeed Musicals are proud to co-produce the first New York City showcase of musicals developed at this one of a kind program.

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 46 established and emerging writers, composers and lyricists will converge on the Goodspeed campus later this month to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 25 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.

One month ago, 35 gifted lyricists, composers and librettists took up residency at Goodspeed Musicals in East Haddam, CT for the first ever Johnny Mercer Writers Colony to participate in an environment of discovery and inspiration. Working in teams and housed in specially constructed quintessential New England two story cottages each equipped with a piano, the teams worked on over 30 musicals during the course of the month. On Saturday February 16, the residency program concluded with a Salon as had been done each week featuring a sparkling sampler of new musicals that were worked on throughout the month. 3-D Theatricals' final show of the 2012 season is the Tony Award-winning musical HAIRSPRAY, featuring choreography by Dana Solimando, musical direction by Allen Everman, and directed by 3-D Theatricals Executive Producer and Artistic Director T.J. Dawson. HAIRSPRAY opened on Saturday, October 13 and performed through Sunday, October 28 at the historic Plummer Auditorium, 201 E. Chapman Ave. in Fullerton. HAIRSPRAY then traveled across town to perform at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, 1935 Manhattan Beach Blvd., for three performances only, ending today, November 4.
