BIO
Patricia McGourty has had the good fortune to experience three art and design careers. As a costume designer she worked in stage and film in New York and California for 18 years collaborating with creative teams on productions ranging from Shakespeare Festivals to Broadway musicals. She has worked with directors Des McAnuff, Wilford Leach, Lynne Meadow, Garland Wright, Edward Berkeley, Melvin Bernhardt, Barnett Kellman, Bob Balaban and John Dillon on numerous projects. In addition to a Tony Nomination she has received the Drama Desk and Joseph Maharam, The Drama-Logue, The Villager and San Diego Critics Awards for Outstanding Costume Design. Her costume designs have played in the US, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia.
As a painter and collage artist, Patricia spent 12 years in the Middle East developing her personal artwork which she sees as a visual dialogue with diverse world cultures and communities. Patricia has also been the Artistic Director for ArtWorks, a very successful arts and cultural consultancy in Dubai. By exploring theatrical design, public art and cross-cultural art forms she has been able to expand her collaborative work into art and design for “The World Stage” of our global community.
