Celebration Theatre will host its annual awards gala Saturday, March 23rd, 2-5 pm, to celebrate its arts community’s creative heroes and raise critical funds during an entertaining afternoon of special appearances and festivities.

Produced and directed by Celebration Theatre's artistic director Michael A. Shepperd, DEAR HARVEY recalls the too-short political career and the lasting impacting of the first openly gay elected politician, as told through the eyes of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Queer Playwright/Performer Roger Q. Mason Receives 2020 Chuck Rowland Award
Two years ago, Roger Q. Mason paid tribute to Billy Porter, the 2018 recipient of the Chuck Rowland Pioneer Award, by performing in a reading of Porter's semi-autobiographical play, As I Yet Live. Now, 2020 is Mason's year - and he is kicking it off, following in Porter's fabulous footsteps, as this year's Chuck Rowland Pioneer Award recipient. The award ceremony will take place on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 7:30 pm at the West Hollywood Council Chambers (625 N San Vicente Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069). Details of the program will be announced in the coming months.
Cal Rep Premieres New Play A LIVE MIXTAPE This Friday
California Repertory Company (CSULB Theatre Arts Department) presents the new play A Live Mixtape written by Long Beach native and CSULB alumna Tahirih Moeller. Tahirih was a student of the award-winning playwright Patricia Loughrey who wrote Dear Harvey, produced by Cal Rep in Fall 2018. It is a particular honor to have both teacher and student produced in the same season!

California Repertory Company continues its 30th Anniversary Season with Dear Harvey by Patricia Loughrey. Opening during LGBT History Month and on National Coming Out Day, October 11, 2018, Dear Harvey, pays tribute to Harvey Milk one of the first openly gay elected official in the history of California. Despite his short career in politics, Harvey Milk became an icon of hope. This year marks the 40th anniversary of his assassination.

Original LGBTQ Musical SONATA 1962 To Star Five-Time NYMF Favorite Erin Leigh Peck
Award-winning playwright Patricia Loughrey and composer Thomas Hodges announce that five-time NYMF alum Erin Leigh Peck (Motherfreakinghood, Grease! on Broadway) will step into the lead role of Margaret Evans in their original LGBTQ musical Sonata 1962.The production, which will make its Off-Broadway debut this August as part of the 2018 New York Musical Festival's Next Link Project, was originally slated to star Becca Ayers who has had to step out of the show due to booking a Broadway contract.

Broadway Sessions Offers a Sneak Peek at NYMF This Week

NYMF Announces Initial Lineup for 2018
The New York Musical Festival (NYMF) announced today 11 of the 12 productions slated for 2018 NYMF. Among the shows announced in the lineup are the Next Link Project selections, as well as the first of two invited productions. Now in its fifteenth year, the 2018 Festival will take place July 9th through August 5th at locations on West 42nd Street in New York City. Dan Markley serves as NYMF Executive Director and Rachel Sussman serves as Producing Artistic Director.
