Shuler Awards Winners Parker Jennings and Laughton Berry to Compete at Jimmy Awards on June 25
The 10th Anniversary of the Shuler Hensley Awards were held in Atlanta at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on April 19. Two of the award winners, Parker Jennings and Laughton Berry, will compete with young performers from across the country for the coveted Jimmy® Award as well as scholarships and professional opportunities. The National High School Musical Theatre Awards - Jimmy® Awards - will take place at the Minskoff Theatre on Broadway at 7:30 pm on June 25, 2018, and will be hosted by Tony Award Winner® Laura Benanti. For the first time ever, the Jimmy® Awards will be streamed live on Facebook at facebook.com/JimmyAwards. With support from 2017 Tony Award winning Best Musical Dear Evan Hansen and Wells Fargo, the livestream will also include special content for those watching online!

The 10th Annual Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards - Shuler Hensley Awards - were held in Atlanta at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on April 19. Two of the evening's award winners, Parker Jennings and Laughton Berry, will go on to compete with young performers from across the country for the coveted Jimmy Award as well as scholarships and professional opportunities. They are heading to New York to participate at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, taking place at the Minskoff Theatre on Broadway, at 7:30 pm on June 25, 2018.

Awards highlights include: Overall Production: Milton High School, Cabaret; Direction: Kirk Grizzle, South Forsyth High School, The Hunchback of Notre Dame; Best Performance by a Leading Actress: Parker Jennings as Eliza Doolittle, Greater Atlanta Christian School, My Fair Lady and Best Performance by a Leading Actor: Laughton Berry as Pippin, Tri-Cities High School, Pippin.

The awards show is the culmination of a year-long professional development program and will showcase the next generation of Georgia's musical theatre talent. ArtsBridge Foundation, the producer of the 8th Annual Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards - Shuler Hensley Awards, tonight announced the winners of the 2016 awards during a ceremony at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. Award highlights include: Overall Production - Milton High School for Young Frankenstein; Direction - Calhoun High School's Julie Leggett for Oklahoma!; Best Performance by a Leading Actor - Buford High School's Will Davis for his role as Dr. Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde in Jekyll & Hyde; and Best Performance by a Leading Actress - Marietta High School's Shelbea Owens for her role as Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray. Additionally, recipients of five scholarships and one grant were announced.
